Manly Beach ... update
Following the loss of all our 8 courts in Manly we have been working on an interim solution to ensure that we can still offer beach volleyball in Manly. We are currently investigating the option of getting a net or two regularly set up at Queenscliff. Furthermore we will work together with Sydney Beach Volleyball School and a number of our club members to have a some portable nets set up over the weekends for every one to play. Please be aware that we intend to start doing this from this weekend onwards, however we cannot guarantee that there will be enough nets to play for everyone. The best thing is just come down as usual and see what's happening. Also, please be aware that it is not allowed to set up portable nets south of court #8 (near the stairs) towards the corso.
At this stage we will hold of on restoring the original courts as there is currently not enough sand left to rebuild them. We will monitor the sand levels at the beach and work together with Manly council to get the courts back before the next season starts.
Other permanent options to play are at "Dee Why Courts Sports".
NBVA is looking for an Operations Manager that will effectivly support our club in a lot of its administrative tasks and also in running all the events that we offer on Manly Beach. This will be a paid part time position which we hope to fill for the beginning of the NBVA Season 2009/2010. Please check here for more information. It will definitely be an exciting and rewarding opportunity.
The NBVA Player Information Meeting was held last Saturday and was again a well visited and valuable meeting. A lot of members shared their ideas and we identified some new supports for our sport. The ideas that have been captured during this meeting can be found here (last years are here).
Thanks again to Sandrine, Ed, Andrea, Paula, Therasa, Franky, Neil, Phil, Nick, Raf, Steve, Dean, Hannah, Brenden, Kim, Alicia, Kenno, Liz, Melita, Marty, Jac, Sonia, Carlotta, Rod, Carl, Nigel, Dieter and everyone who made it to the meeting. Good ideas and we are trying to get as many of them happening as we can.
