| The AmazonPower Open was another great event and NBVA had 55 teams turning up on a beautiful Sunday morning. It turned out to be a great day with amazing beach volleyball games that haven't been seen in Manly in a long time. All players were keen to take out the prize money provided by AmazonPower. Please join us in congratulating the winners: The women's AA final was no big surprise - It was Johanna and Natalie against Pip and Jacinta. This highly anticipated final brought good rallies and tight points to the courts. Jac and Pic struggled in the first set which they had to give away 21:8. Our pipped team from the last tournament did not want to give up that easy and put on a close fight in the second set till 18:18 - that's when Hanna and Nat decided otherwise and raced the final 3 points home to get their second victory in the two tournaments that they have played together.
Women AA The men's AA division was full of highly ranked teams - Rich Coles / Andrew McCombe, Paul Bourne / Francesco Riginelli, Lefu Leaupepe / Tom Giese and Michael Mattern / Nigel Lamont to name a few. The day was filled with hard fought games and there were a couple of upsets and surprises - including one team that made it to the final - Christoph and Tobias. The two Germans put on a solid game over the course of the day and game into the final as underdogs. They managed to take the first set away with a 21:13 victory and it all looked like smooth sailing in the second set as well. But Andy and Rich did not want to give away the final that easily and fought for every point till they were tightly up 20:19. Unfortunate for them Christoph and Tobias managed to turn the luck again and won the set and the final with 23:21.
