Volunteers Help Needed

The NBVA is ‘run by the players for the players' - which means you!
So that we can all enjoy beach volleyball, we ask everyone to lend a hand... Every bit helps.

Become part of the committe or give us a hand on event basis

The most important thing we ask, is if you are playing in a tournament or league, turn up a few minutes early and help set up, then hang round a few minutes afterwards and help pack down.

There is also a whole bunch of other interesting ways in which you can help out, learn new skills and even beef up your resume.

Please check out the page regularly as we will update some of the job descriptions below before the season starts. We currently plan a lot of things and we hope for your support to have a better and more enjoyable season 2008/2009.

Coaching

Background
The Northern Beaches Volleyball Association (NBVA) provides Beach Volleyball at Manly Beach. Coaching for beginners and intermediate players is provided through the Sydney Beach Volleyball School (SBVBS) under a separate arrangement with Manly council. SBVBS is paying council fees to be eligible to run a coaching business at Manly Beach. Under the current arrangement with Manly council and the Sydney Beach Volleyball School, NBVA can offer coaching and training to full NBVA members - and we are building up a structure at the moment next to the existing coaching time tables (more information here).

No other organisation or individual (like Personal Trainers) are allowed to conduct and provide coaching at Manly Beach without getting Manly Council permission or commencing an arrangement with NBVA or SBVBS (Please inquire directly with either organisation for more information. Generally to enter an NBVA agreement you have to apply for at least a "Level 0 Coaching License" (or higher), a "Prohibited Employment Declaration" as well as a proposed coaching time and submit that to the NBVA committee. NBVA will reimburse the fees incurred for the Level 0 certification. Further obligations apply which will be discussed and arranged on a case by case with the individual coach.)  Generally coaching times should be kept outside the peak hours (Monday to Friday after 5pm) and the weekends. During an NBVA or Council event the coaching times are overridden – please check NBVA.ORG.AU for the calendar of events to make sure you'll get your games.

Definitions
